The Family Foundation of Virginia:
Today, the Virginia Board of Social Services is scheduled to consider a request by several homosexual activist groups to reopen its decision to protect the rights of private, faith-based adoption agencies.
...Oddly, groups like Equality Virginia and the ACLU that today are advocating for more public comment were silent for nearly two years as the regulations, stealthily proposed by former Governor Tim Kaine, went through the process. After losing the vote (7-2) in April, they suddenly are very interested in more time and another vote. Now they are threatening a costly, frivolous lawsuit if they don’t get their way...
During the earlier comment period, only an approximate 30 of the 1,000-plus public comments were favorable toward adding restrictions on faith-based charities (see Washington Times). In 2002, the last year for which data is available, nearly 80 percent of adoptions in Virginia were facilitated by private organizations, nearly half of which are faith-based.

Try as often as you like. The people have made it very clear they will resist the imposition of a homosexualist dictatorship irreconcilably opposed to our values. The elites are going to have to get this through their heads at some point.
I don't think a heterosexuality dictatorship is the answer. Religionists are going to have to learn their place in society is subordinate to the laws of the land.
Are they intent on forbidding a private adoption agency from protecting children from the custody of same-sex couples if the agencies are NOT "faith-based"?
This is NOT a religious issue.
You cannot discriminate against gay couples just because YOUR religion says being gay is wrong...because the child is not christian...he or she has not been baptized yet...the parents are not necessarily christian... and even if they were, would you also then refuse to adopt children into a home where the parents have divorced previously ? where one of the two parents had committed adultery ? was guilty of violating any of the ten commandments ?? When you selectively go after gay couples...there's only one word for it...BIGOTRY....When lawsuits are filed by gay people, they are "frivolous"... when they are filed by "faith-based" organisations, they are justified...can anyone smell the stench of bigotry here ?? Coz I live 2000 miles away and even I can...
Proud of these adoption agencies in staying firm to their core values. They are putting the interests of children ahead of selfish, greedy, and self centered sexual desires of adults. It is sickening to see these organizations willing to do anything to hurt innocent children.
They understand that adoptive children need a mother and a father. It is simple to understand. If you wish to adopt you must provide a mother and a father or there will be no adoption.
This is a child welfare and endangerment issue, period.
I presume that their intent to force agencies to adopt to ss couples is based on the discredited ss parenting studies.
My comment got ate. Let me try again from a different wording.
"You cannot discriminate against gay couples just because YOUR religion says being gay is wrong..."
So if vegetarian parents adopt, they must be forced by the state to purchase and consume meat products?
Why should The State have the power to force a private citizen to engage in economic activity for the express purpose of benefiting a sub-group of people? How is that in any way equality?
Unfortunately, gay activists (note I always say 'activists'... I know many gays who disagree with this...) tend to believe that the ends justify the means. Any amount of human rights violation is acceptable as long as it benefits *them*. They would not advocate the same protections for Christians as vegetarians for no other reason than that *they* disagree with Christians and not vegetarians.
This mindset is a far greater danger to our Democratic Republic than anything that two men or two women want to do in the same bed.
Emily, the compelling state interest in discouraging the formation and maintenance of "gay couples" is not "discrimination" any more than penalizing drunken behavior is "discrimination" against alcoholics.Standards of conduct are not bigotry and I am neither religious in general nor Christian in particular.
Homosexual rights activists are useful idiots – a term used by communists and reserved for those who advance communist agenda without realizing it (getting rid of religion is an important part of it). All those who support these activists are authentic American dupes. By suppressing Christianity homosexuals make a ground fertile for some kind of regime (certainly not democratic) and in fact they will be the first ones to suffer (yes even before the Christians).
As long as our lawmakers keep caving in and making laws against the natural order of things they continue to give homosexuals weapons for persecusion of Christians.
Virginia, hold on.
