Video: Why Rick Santorum Suddenly Moved Up in Iowa: Marriage and Life

Rick was nowhere in the polling but fourth in the Ames Straw poll. It wasn't money or organization--it was the message: stand strong for life and marriage.

Michelle Bachmann, winner of the Ames Straw poll also signed NOM's Marriage Pledge.

Good stuff from Santorum. When the government gets people hooked on free ice cream they can then control people by threatening to take it away.

This happened just recently with the threat of so-called government shutdown. The liberals scared people by telling them they might not be getting their social security checks unless an agreement was reached.

That was a lie. The money was already in the treasury to send out these checks. It was nothing but a scare tactic to garner support.

Judging from Obama's stellar 39% approval rating that little trick did not work out as the Democrats had hoped.

I voted for Kerry for President back in the day and he was well on his way to winning; up until the time same-sex marriage reared its ugly head. Are Democrats incapable of learning from their mistakes?

A healthy economy cannot exist without a solid moral society with the basic family unit; husband + wife and progeny, at it's core. Just look at Europe to see how rapidly deterioration can take hold when the traditonal family is no longer the focus of a people.

Glad to hear that Randy as I too voted for Kerry and even voted against Romney as governor of MA back in 2002 before all of this SSM crap reared its ugly head. Once I learned of the evil intentions of the secularists and the homosexual activists I too got a political conversion the same way a religious person gets a conversion.

I'm even more impressed now with Rick Santorum than I ever have. It is nothing short of joy to see how he jumped from the end of the line to 4th. He is certainly needed in these terrible times. I do believe he can jar many back to reality.

I truly hope that the voting public pay attention to these very important issues facing us in 2012. We must not let Obama remain in office. Rick Santorum has it right!

@Barbara, so right. I had a STRONG discussion with my mother in law who actually challenged me that the Republicans are denying her the Social Security check that she needs every month. Oh I really had to keep the passion in check as I replied that the Republican House Speaker never said those words. Only a Democratic president that she voted for said it. "Ma, it was a scare tactic." The money is there. But to scare them that way, is there any mercy in the Democratic party??

I am coming around to supporting Rick. I have been vague about such a long list of candidates. Michelle Bachmann also. One of my requirements is that they are conservatives who believe in Life and the Traditional values that hold up society in any turbulent times. If His people pray, God will surely hear and answer them.

I teach at the college level, and the hook-up culture on most campuses now is rampant and a sad sight to see. Discussion of family and life issues on campuses can trigger heated and even violent reactions. I agree with Jeannene Moore, Rick Santorum has it right. Let's put this man in office.

Wow a whole list of posts without SSM trolls. That was really refreshing.

Whoops watch out below. One of them will have to comment I'm sure and roil the peaceful waters.

I really hope this bus tour can afford to come to each and every state in this great nation of ours and get the word out about what is truly important!!! Each and every person needs to be educated about what redefining marriage will do to this country and people need to be heard in standing up for the sanctity of life, marriage, and intact families--we should be strengthening marriage, not watering it down! God bless everyone involved in this endeavor!
