Michele Bachmann, on Campaign Trail, Praises Iowans for Defeating Pro-SSM Judges in Iowa

In the Des Moines Register Caucuses blog:

Michele Bachmann [at the Iowa Straw Poll] emphasized her stand against marriage for same-sex couples and her opposition to abortion.

“You showed the world when you did not retain those justices in your last election,” Bachmann said to a screaming crowd, referring to the members of the Iowa Supreme Court who were part of the unanimous 2009 decision ruling a law limiting marriage to a man and a woman was unconstitutional.

She continued: “And as president of the United States I will only appoint justices that follow the constitution and don’t legislate from the bench.”

Equality is part of the constitution. Any judge who follows the constitution must favor marriage equality. Michele needs to meet more gay people to better understand them. She should start with her flaming husband.

Fortunately, Bachmann understands that marriage = 1 man + 1 woman. And so do the people of Iowa, along with the majority of people in the United States.

Just b/c a judge has a gay 2nd cousin, that doesn't give him the justification to redefine marriage.

Everyone is already equal. The idea that equality translates to gay "marriage" is delusional, regardless of how many gay friends a person has.

If Michele thinks that gay people are from Satan, then why did she marry one?

dn: it is fraud for a gay person to marry a straight person.

Do you mean its fraud because the gay person would lie to or hide it from the straight person?

I applaud her opposition to same-sex "marriage" and deplore her opposition to abortion. So how do we shake the domination of our politics by a party that will only nominate anti-abortionists and a party that will only nominate SSM supporters for most offices?

Louis E: You're out of luck. Those of us who understand that marriage is between a man and a woman also understand that ripping an innocent child out of the womb is murder. You'll just have to deal.

Catholicdad, nobody's talking about banning Caesarian sections. And I'm fully capable of understanding the intrinsically opposite-sex nature of marriage without blinding myself to the enormous difference between a zygote and a live-born infant.

Iowa needs a legislature willing to pass a constitutional amendment on marriage.
