Marriage Loses in Argentina Senate 33 to 27

After a massive outpouring of public opposition, the government fought back by pressuring, bribing or simply getting out of the country, senators. What was allegedly a free vote became in effect a party loyalty vote. The Senate voted 33 to 27 to pass gay marriage. Our correspondent in Argentina writes:

"We had a sad night, although we are convinced that this is the beginning of something bigger and we are ready to fight. The best of us will show during the following years."

Something tells me God didn't have anything to do with that one Chago. You can thank corrupt politicians for that mess.

Chago has it right... God has everything thing to do with our world. Open your heart and place your trust in Him - it's dangerous not to love and accept ALL of His Creation.

Love and accept the People, yes. Not their actions. All people are created equal, choices never were.

Chago and Maggie are correct. God is NOT the finite creations of man. To see God all you have to do is open your eyes and look around. God is everywhere and everything.

TC, you write pretty words but do you live up to them? Do you treat everyone equally? Sexual orientation is NOT a choice and is NOT binary (based on empirical data). There is NO empirical evidence that sexual orientation can change.

    Conditional love is not love.

Aggie, we all do our best in life according to our understanding of right and wrong. Of course all people are equal, and should be treated with respect--- but that doesn't mean we all have to agree. We all have the right to disagree. That includes all kinds of different thoughts--- Christians, Atheists, Buddhists, Nihilists, even nudists lol. Many of the concerns in the marriage fight have little to do with marriage and everything to do with freedom to believe differently from one another.

You may believe that sexual orientation cannot change. That is your right. I believe sexuality can be a fluid thing, much more so than we have understood in the past. We are still learning about biology, however, we do know many things for sure. It is a well known fact for instance that children fare best with a mom and dad, married and dedicated to their union and family for life. There is no question on that. Denying a child a mother or a father by design is not a societal ideal I want to see held up. People are equal, but people's choices are not. You can choose to have and raise children no matter what your personal feelings are. That is your choice, but once you start on that path, and involve a child in your decisions, your personal life, personal choices have to take a back seat to the needs of that child. I support marriage between a man and a woman because it is best for society, and our children.
