In India, Some People Paying Surgeons to Turn Girls into Boys

Horrendous:

Madhya Pradesh state government is investigating claims that up to 300 girls were surgically turned into boys in one city after their parents paid about £2,000 each for the operations.

Women's and children's rights campaigners denounced the practice as a "social madness" that made a "mockery of women in India".

India's gender balance has already been tilted in favour of boys by female foeticide – sex selection abortions - by families who fear the high marriage costs and dowries they may have to pay. There are now seven million more boys than girls aged under six in the country.

Campaigners said the use of surgery meant that girls were no longer safe even after birth.

The row emerged after newspapers disclosed children from throughout India were being operated on by doctors in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. -- UK Telegraph

Horrific. I suppose that this post could relate to marriage to the extent that there is a financial incentive (no dowry) to having a boy instead of a girl. A recent post on here talked about the lack of marriage in low-income American households. I guess the common theme is that money plays a role in our respective marriage cultures, and that role is problematic for society. Of course, neither post has anything to do denying marriage equality for LGBTs, which seems to dominate the NOM blogosphere.

Seriously, how can you tag this with "same-sex marriage"? How does this have ANYTHING to do with marriage equality? You guys have lost your minds!!!

Well Heidi, if you look at all the different areas gay activists want to change society, the gay agenda becomes clear. Seen one at a time, perhaps these drives could be explained away, but seen together, the true picture becomes clear. Is gender important or isn't it? Gay marriage activists claim it isn't. So, is that a world we want to live in? Is gender a social construct? If so, this should not bother you one bit. However, I suspect that while well intentioned people may fall for the gay agenda on one front because of the emotional arguments, the practical side needs to be gone through.

If you don't like where your logic leads, perhaps you shouldn't ask the nation to go there.

"Is gender important or isn't it? Gay marriage activists claim it isn't."

This is completely false. If GLBT people were making this claim, transgendered people wouldn't experience the terrible conflict between their physical body and internal identity. If gender didn't matter gay men and lesbians would take your absurd advice and marry someone of the opposite sex.

If gender matters to you Bruce, and to the LGBT community.... then why don't you think it matters to children? Just because it's inconvenient?

The Gay Gestapo, by their own arguments, would logically approve of this practice in India. After all, they also approve of teaching children that they can be whatever they want: a boy, a girl, both or neither. They see nothing strange about a gender-confused person mangling their own body b/c they don't feel at home in the body they have. They view this as normal, while the rest of us view it as the serious psychotic break from reality that it is.

    TC:

MARRIAGE is a social construct, not gender.

No one said gender doesn't matter to children, just that having parents who love & care for them is the most important part, not whether they are being raised by an opposite-sex couple or a same-sex couple.

    Stop making stuff up.

Same-sex marriage promotes the abandonment of the child by the opposite-sexed parent. How can that be a healthy for a child?

In America, some people tatto their bodies.
    Horrendous.

Adult gender bias trumps children's need (not to mention Mother Nature's design) for a Mom and Dad.

    Pathetic.

    >>No one said gender doesn't matter to children...

If that's true, then why has your camp seen to it that "Gender Coaches" are now being placed in America's classrooms for the very purpose of indoctrinating children to accept that gender doesn't matter? Check it out yourself if you really didn't know what your own camp has been up to:

    http://massresistance.com/docs/gen/11b/CA_trans_elementary/index2.html

It's gotten so bad, in fact, they're even now teaching children the falsehood that human gender is naturally changeable, pointing to sea creatures such as clown fish (which we are not, btw):

    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/05/25/gender-diversity-lesson-california-school-riles-critics/

These poor children - having their impressionable minds poisoned with these false notions regarding their bodies is child abuse! Why are we allowing this America? Have we really gotten so politically correct we've lost all common sense? Wake up! Share these links with others and speak up *now* lest this garbage is soon taught in your child's school too!

@Marty, actually studies show that children raised by two lesbian parents have fewer behavioural problems and higher self-esteem than those raised by straight parents. Just saying...

Valerie those studies are limited in their generalizability- I'm on your side though. This "damage" is imaginary. The damage is really for self hating gays like Marty who choose to be heterosexual and thus dint understand what love is. Research adult attatchment and it's physiology to know why A gay cannot love a lesbian the same way he can love a gay.

I'm thinking it's no coincidence that @Marty uses an APE for his avatar since his thinking and writing clearly echoes the stone age.
